The Future Internet is a new European initiative which aims to stimulate research into key technical areas leading to a new global communications infrastructure designed with a “clean slate” approach. Much of the ongoing work is carried out within Future Internet Assemblies where the leaders of over 90 European projects meet to discuss research issues associated with:
We believe that the Future Internet initiative provides a very significant opportunity for Semantics as these technologies provide a firm basis for solving the challenges associated with scalability, heterogeneity and mediation. This workshop will allow key members of the Semantics Community to discuss these issues. The workshop will have the following format. In the morning we will first have presentations on key Future Internet topics and short presentations from relevant projects. In the afternoon we will have a structured discussion enabling all participants to raise key research and technical challenges. If you would like to participate in the Semantics and Future Internet Workshop please email a 1 page position statement to the two email addresses below. The 1-page position statement should contain the following: 1. A short (1 paragraph) biography 2. How your current research work contributes to Semantics in the Future Internet. 3. Relevant projects that you are participating in. Please send your 1 page position statements to the emails below by August 24th.
