M. Dianati | University of Surrey, UK
O.Maurhart | AIT Austrian Institute of Technology, AT
M.Peev | AIT Austrian Institute of Technology, AT

Part I: QKD and network security, QKD networks and the SECOQC Vienna Prototype
Part II: The heart of the SECOQC Node Module - the Q3P paradigm
Part III: Network wide key distribution over Q3P; application interfaces

The objective of the proposed tutorial is to present to the audience the principles and key parameters the emerging Quantum Key Distribution (QKD)technology and, on this basis to outline the possibilities of assembling QKD networks out of point to-point basic QKD building blocks (QKD links) to design and implement secure communication infrastructures. The tutorial focuses on the technologic approaches put forward and technically realized, during the recently terminated European Project SECOQC (Development of a Global Network for SEcure COmmunication based on Quantum Cryptography) [1].
